Adopt

Adoption Process

In addition to dogs and cats that are surrendered by their owners, we also house stray animals picked up by Animal Control.

Application

Once you have found an animal you want to adopt, we will then begin the application process. The application helps ensure that your expectations and home environment are compatible with what we know about the animal. We do our very best to ensure we are making matches that will be successful for the lifetime of the pet. If we feel a particular animal is not suited for what you are looking for, we will do our best to point you toward one that would be a better fit.

All applications for an animal are kept with that animal's paperwork until its behavioral evaluation has been done and it is spayed/neutered and vaccinated. When the animal is ready for adoption, we review the applications submitted for the animal in the order that they were received. The first application that meets our "good match" requirements will be able to adopt the animal.

Due to the overwhelming number of animals we see in our shelter, we are unable to hold an animal for adoption over 24 hours after it is ready to go if we have another adopter in line who is a good match.

Your adoption fee covers spaying/neutering, vaccines, dewormer, a mirochip, a collar, and an ID tag for dogs. Please contact our office for the current adoption fee amount.
